 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Psychotherapy sessions are unique to each individual and address their specific goals. Together we will explore your current circumstances as well as your history. We will explore the unconscious through dreams, fantasies, your body sensations, thoughts and feelings. Depending on your needs therapy can be short-term, for a specific issues, or longer-term to deal with more entrenched patterns or to develop more fully as a person. In the spirit of the work, it’s important to be an active participant and meet for weekly session (sometimes more is warranted). Psychotherapy is a collaborative relationship and can be a powerful catalyst for change and growth. Psychotherapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of their life by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards change in their lives.

  • I do not accept insurance; however, I can provide a monthly invoice that you can turn in to your insurance. Some plans may reimburse in part. Please check your coverage by asking the following questions:

Does my plan provide out-of-network reimbursement for mental health?

Is there a deductible I need to meet before I can be reimbursed?

How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

What percentage of the fee do you cover?

  • Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapeutic treatment. It gives clients seeking services the knowledge and comfort that they can be completely honest with their clinician, without fear that the therapist will share what they said with outsiders. The exceptions to this is if a client is a danger to self or others.

  • I am happy to offer an initial phone consultation to determine together if we are a good fit. At that time, I will discuss my fees with you. I keep a small number of hours in my practice where I can offer a reduced fee.

  • Sessions for psychotherapy are usually 50 minutes in length.  Once we agree on one or more regular times per week, I will reserve those hours exclusively for you and expect payment for them.

If you inform me at least 48 hours in advance of planned absences, you will not be charged for those sessions.  Unless otherwise arranged, fees are due at the time of the session.
